You Are Here!

Yes, you are here, but what does that mean? You can be at any place, at any time, yet not be anywhere at all. Are you in a place of me, me, me? Or are you in a place that includes we and us? It would seem, based on the conditions of life we are all facing that the majority is in a ‘Me’ mode. The ‘me’ mode is a highly subjective and closed minded place to exist. Personally, I like to try to stay within a community that includes we and us. It is a more realistic way of being. When people live 'together', they tend to be open to give and receive the help that is available. Money is not the only thing that we have to offer each other. We also have time, effort, and skills that are useful to the entire community, and the world at large. In the sense of politics, one world can appear quite scary. But in a one world community, differences can be set aside, albeit briefly, in order to accomplish a single, universal goal. As the world progresses, we can see that it also becomes smaller in the sense of the numerous commonalities that we all do share. Wants and desires aside, we all share the same needs. We all need clean air to breath, fresh, clean water to drink, and safe foods to eat. Shortage of even one of these things has caused great civilizations to collapse. There are ways and means to provide these necessities to ALL people. It just takes time and effort to organize. We spend so much time and effort to produce things in society, not realizing that in the long run, we are merely making mountains of trash. Do I think we need to give up our way of lives? No, but a reconsideration of the things we deem important should be undertaken. If I, a selfish, self-centered alcoholic, can find a way to put others first, then I believe anyone can do it. We are fast approaching a time where we will be forced to make some drastic decisions. It behooves us to start before it is too late, if it is not already.
